This unforgettable guided hike in Marvikarna Nature Reserve near Trosa (Sörmland) takes you through pristine forests, along crystal-clear waters, and across cliffs with breathtaking views over ancient glacial lakes. Every step brings you closer to Sweden’s wild beauty and its fascinating past. Perfect for travelers seeking a scenic hike in untouched nature, this tour combines peaceful surroundings, fresh air, and the chance to spot local wildlife, creating a stunning outdoor experience.
A Journey Through Time and Nature
Our adventure follows dirt and rocky trails formed after the last Ice Age, when massive glaciers melted and left behind the beautiful lakes you’ll see today. As we hike, you’ll not only experience untouched nature but also walk in the footsteps of those who came before us, from Iron Age settlers to Viking navigators who once used these waters as a passage between Lake Mälaren and the Baltic Sea. In later centuries, the frozen lakes were used to transport coal and minerals. And still today, the seasons make this place magical: in winter, the lakes freeze into a white wonderland, while in summer, their clear waters invite you to swim, or simply rest by the shore. Before ending the hike, we will pause at a fantastic panoramic spot to enjoy a traditional Swedish “fika”: freshly brewed coffee or tea served with a classic pastry. This simple, timeless tradition brings comfort, connection, and a true taste of Swedish outdoor life.
